FIBERAND POLYESTER MINI FIBERS
Technical Data Sheet
General Description: Polyethylene tetraphalate fibers, commonly
known as polyester, manufactured in monofilament, single strand fiber
form.
Filament Size – Standard Deniers: 4.0 denier per filament
(dpf).
Cut Lengths – Standard Lengths: 1/4”, 1/2”,
3/4” or 11/2”
Specific Gravity: 1.38
Tensile Strength: 141,000 to 154,000 pounds per square inch.
Breaking Tenacity (std.): 7.8 to 8.6 grams per denier.
Elongation at Break: 28 to 36%
Average Stiffness: 55.0 to 75.0 grams per denier.
Effect of Heat: Melts at 5000F
Moisture Regain: 0.4% at 700F, 65% relative humidity
Shrinkage (3500F): 1.5 to 4.0%
Effects of Acids and Alkalis: Good resistance to organic and
inorganic acids at room temperature.
Moderate
resistance at boil. Disintegrates in concentrated hot alkalis. Excellent
resistance to acids.
Effects of Bleaches and Solvents: Excellent resistance
to bleaches and other oxidizing agents.
Resistance to Mildew, Aging, Sunlight, Abrasion: Excellent
resistance to mildew. Good resistance
to
aging and abrasion. Prolonged exposure to sunlight causes some deterioration.
Dispersion: Easily dispersed in aqueous and non-aqueous
systems. Surface treatment to aid
dispersion
applied as required.
Packaging: Fiber is packaged in corrugated boxes and
water-soluble bags.
Standard Compliances: ASTM C39, C78, C496, C596, C666,
