Roads Using Fiberand Road Fibers Win Top Three U.S. Road Awards in 1996(1/2/97)According to TRIP (based on the latest FHWA data) Georgia ranked number 1 nationally (fourth year in a row) with the lowest percentage of major roads (arterials and collectors) with pavement surfaces in poor condition at one-fifth of a percent -- .2 percent (42 miles of 21,133 miles). (Since 1990, Georgia has used Fiberand Road Fibers in their SMA and OGFC mix designs. Georgia uses these two technologies for most state and federal roads.). NAPA's Sheldon G. Hayes Award, which is presented annually to the contractor with the highest rated pavement using 50,000 or more tons, went to Anderson Columbia (a Florida contractor) for their work on the I-75 project in Lowndes County, Georgia. (Anderson Columbia is a Fiberand customer and the I-75 project utilized Fiberand Road Fibers exclusively). NAPA's Quality in Construction Award, which is presented annually to the contractors and owners of exemplary quality pavements identified by NAPA judges, went to APAC-Georgia, Inc. and C.W. Matthews Contracting, Inc. for their work on the HOV Lane around Atlanta. (Both APAC-Georgia and C.W. Matthews are longtime Fiberand customers. Fiberand Road Fibers were used exclusively on this project as well).
