Fiberand Road Fiber: The Fiber of Choice for NCAT Pavement Test Track

 Fiberand was glad to help out the newly designed and constructed Pavement Test Track Project located at the NCAT Research Center in Auburn, Alabama with a full trailer-load of Fiberand Road Fiber. The track, a 1.7-mile-long oval, will allow accelerated load testing of various asphalt mixes among its 46 test sections.
The goal of the test track is to perform the equivalent of 10 to 12 years of traffic on a fairly high-volume interstate highway and then measure the "real-world" performance of the various pavement designs. We believe the track provides the perfect opportunity to demonstrate the viability of our fibers and technology. Fiberand Road Fibers are the only fibers used in any of the SMA and OGFC sections.
The paving contractor for the test track was APAC-Alabama, Inc., Couch Division, a long-time Fiberand customer. Since completion, Fiberand has learned that APAC has submitted an application for the 2000 Sheldon G. Hayes Award. If selected, APAC-Alabama (Couch) would become the third Fiberand customer to win the road industry's most prestigious award in the last 6 years.
